Each research guide on this list has several sections. The titles listed in "Introductory Texts" are suitable for a first encounter with the topic; they would also, in many cases, serve as useful reference sources at later points of study. "Focused Studies" present the subject from a thematic or geographic angle and are notable for their rich bibliographies and indexing. "Source Texts" are anthologies which collect core essays and interviews relating to the topic. "Primary Sources" are items that are examples of, influences on, or reactions to the topic in question; they therefore offer an unmediated glimpse of the topic.
