Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day, Feb 19, 2010

Each year “Girl Day” allows thousands of women engineers, with support from their male counterparts and employers, to directly mentor more than one million girls and young women in K-12 with firsthand experiences in engineering.

Photos being re-furbished for new building

Today workers are removing photos of emeriti and former deans from the walls of the Terman building so that they can be scanned, reformatted and proudly redisplayed in the new Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center,
which will open in the Science and Engineering Quad (next to Y2E2) this October.


East Asia Library Demos Chinese Digital Library Resources - Feb 9, 2010

Simon Shi from Superstar Digital Library (超星数字图书馆) will come to demonstrate some of the latest features of the Duxiu (读秀知识库) and Chinamaxx e-book databases and answer questions.

Description:
Unveiled in May 2007, the Street View feature of Google Maps is the result of a substantial engineering effort. The initial vision for Street View was provided by Google co-founder Larry Page. Turning this initial vision into a product required developing major new pieces of technology. This presentation will go over some of these components and give the audience a peek at the Street View project from behind the scene.

The specs for the device list a 9.7 inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and a 1-gigahertz Apple A4 processor. Pricing for the iPad will be between $500 and $830, depending on configuration, and the device starts shipping in 60 days.
