EAL currently has trial access through Aug. 3, 2013 to the Database of Chinese Classic Ancient Books (中國基本古籍庫) and Database of Chinese Local Records (中國方志庫) in the Erudition Database (爱如生數據庫) at http://server.wenzibase.com (on-campus access only).

gravity of growth toward emerging and developing economies. In

Trial access to Maisaku: Mainichi shinbun detabesu

From 3/6/13-4/2/13, we will be trying out a new e-resource, Maisaku: Mainichi shinbun detabesu, which provides access to the online full-text, Japanese language database of Mainichi shinbun (1872 (Meiji 5)- ). The database also includes Mainichi Daily News (June 2008- ), Shukan Ekonomisuto (October 1989- ), the public opinion poll conducted by Mainichi Shinbunsha (1945- ), Mainichi yoron chosa, and the company history "'Mainichi' no 3-seiki".

Web Library of Japanese Literature (日本文学Web図書館) trial access

From 3/5/13-4/5/13, we will be trying out a new e-resource, the Web Library of Japanese Literature (日本文学Web図書館) database, which includes full-text, searchable access to the CD-ROM version of Shinpen Kokka Taikan (新編国歌大観), the Shinpen Shika Shūsei (新編私家集大成 - CD-ROM version of 私家集大成) and more.

This resource is very new and continues to be improved. Currently, it is necessary for users to download a viewing software and use a log-in and password. The East Asia Library has downloaded the viewing software to our public computer for immediate use.

Currently on display in the EAL: Chinese books on the Olympics and sports

In honour of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, we've put out a selection of Chinese books on the Olympics and sporting culture on the old card catalogs at the south end of the reading room. Please stop by the library to take a look at the selection. All books are available for check out.

We plan on keeping a regular display of EAL books on a variety of topics on a rotating basis. Be sure to look out for the latest display.
