Find Computer Science Tech Reports

Searching the Math/CS Technical Reports Collection
All technical reports held by the Math/CS Library can be found in Socrates, by searching for the title of the report.

The collection includes computer science, mathematics, statistics, and operations research technical reports from various sources around the world from the mid-1950's to the present. The bulk of the collection is composed of computer science-related reports issued by U.S. institutions from the 1970's and 1980's. Many were later published in magazines and refereed journals.

The Undergraduate Collection

The Undergraduate Collection was a collection of classical mathematics books covering the history of mathematics, assembled by Professor Halsey L. Royden and Rebecca Lasher Wesley in the late 1980's. Professor Donald E. Knuth recommended additional books in the mathematical and computer sciences. At the time, Prof. Royden felt that all students of mathematics should become familiar with these works before they left Stanford. They are shelved in the book stacks by call number, and may sometimes be identified by a narrow (not round) bright green strip on the book's spine.

History of the Mathematical & Computer Sciences Collection

The Mathematical & Computer Sciences Collection began with the growth of departmental libraries for Mathematics and Statistics following the development of the Mathematics Department in 1925 and the Statistics Department in 1948. In 1956 the Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics Library was housed in the Physics Building, Building 380.
