Interlibrary Borrowing

Fuller information about Interlibrary Borrowing, including the online forms, can be found at:
http://www-sul.stanford.edu/services/interlibrary_services/doc_delivery_forms.html

Please check the Socrates Online Catalog before requesting items from other institutions. If Stanford does own the book in one of our libraries, you should borrow, recall or request the Stanford item from storage.

There are two forms of Interlibrary Borrowing that we recommend to Engineering Library users.

RLCP allows Stanford faculty, academic staff, and graduate students to request research materials directly from the University of California at Berkeley or the University of Texas at Austin. Visiting scholars and undergraduates are not eligible to use RLCP.

Please check the appropriate online catalog before submitting requests to RLCP. You will need to know their local call numbers to request books. Both interfaces are very similar to the Socrates online catalog.

UT Austin is more limited in the amount of engineering material it offers, but you may still want to check there. They do require borrowers to fill out a form for a separate card, unlike UCB.
You can check the UTNetCat catalog by using this link: http://catalog.lib.utexas.edu/

Requests submitted via RLCP do not go through the Stanford team. The Stanford staff does not see them, and cannot track them or expedite them for you.

SULAIR Interlibrary Borrowing is the Stanford coordinated process and is available to most of the Stanford community. One time registration is required the first time you use the service.

Interlibrary Borrowing obtains books, articles and other materials not available at Stanford University and needed to support the teaching, learning, research, and other University-related work of Stanford faculty, students, staff and visiting scholars. For personal items please use your public library.
