The Engineering Library has a collection of standards that includes full-text online standards and print standards. In addition we have collected links to many online standards collections available for free online.

Click the tabs below to view our standards collection. Many standards are included in Socrates. To find standards search Socrates for the name of the standard issuing organization (e.g. ASTM)

Faculty interested in getting copies of ISO Standards for use in the classroom can now get copies for students via the ANSI University Outreach Program. For information and request forms please contract Sarah Lester (slester@stanford.edu).

  • ASTM digital library
    Download any of ASTM's 12,000+ standards, covering metals, petroleum, construction, the environment, and more. Follow the My Standards link.

  • ETSI Standards (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)
    Standards for information & communications technologies including fixed, mobile, radio, broadcast, internet and several other areas.

  • IEEE Xplore
    Full text access to IEEE and IEE standards covering electrical and computer engineering, electronics, computer science and physics. Also includes access to IEEE draft standards.

  • International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T)
    ITU-T is the leading publisher of telecommunication technology, regulatory and standard information. Many of the over 3000 ITU-T Recommendations can be downloaded for free. These are also available in print via Socrates
