The Mathematics and Statistics Library supports the research and teaching missions of the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics as well as Operations Research in the Department of Management Science and Engineering and the interdisciplinary graduate program in Financial Mathematics. Monographs, journals, and technical reports are acquired in support of these departments and their associated laboratories. The user community consists of approximately 74 teaching and research faculty, 223 graduate students, 100 undergraduates, and associated staff.
The collection occupies 8,000 linear feet or about 63,000 volumes, including approximately 800 journal titles. Half of the collection consists of journals, and half are books.
The technical reports collection (about 55,000) is one of the best in the world in the area of computer science with the earliest reports dating back to 1954. The collection includes reports from other universities and industry as well as those produced on the Stanford campus. Many reports have been transferred to microform.
