Cataloging Selector Requests for "In" Analytics for Specific Articles in Serials

• Update the bibliographic record for the serial:
1. Add a 500 note specifying:
• Enumeration and chronology of the issue the article is in;
• Title of the article;
• Statement of responsibility for the article (if applicable);
• Page numbers of the article.

Example:
500 __ Nouv. sér., no 05 (janv./mars 1979) includes article: La ligue du Midi et la commune de 1870 à Marseille / Alain Delale.--p. 4-8.

2. Multiple articles in the same serial should be given separate 500 notes.

Example:
500 __ No. 20 (oct./déc. 1975) includes article: La grand soulèvement canaque 1878-1879 / Gilles Ragache.--p. 11-15.
500 __ Nouv. sér. no 04 (oct./déc. 1978) includes article: Louise Michel / Monique Baudoin.--p. 13-17.
500 __ Nouv. sér., no 05 (janv./mars 1979) includes article: La ligue du Midi et la commune de 1870 à Marseille / Alain Delale.--p. 4-8.

3. Multiple articles in the same issue of a serial should be given in the same 500 note, separated by a semicolon.

Example:
500 __ Vol. 24, no. 1 (fall 2005) includes articles: The Hotel Del Monte : Pacific Improvement Company's gateway to the Monterey Peninsula / L. Elaine Stanley.--p. 5-15; and: A garden of enchantment : the grounds of the Hotel Del Monte / Julie Cain.--p. 17-23.

4. Add a 700 name/title entry for the article(s). The second indicator should be "2".
• For an article written by multiple authors, enter under the first-named author and make 700 name entries for the additional authors.
• For an article without personal authorship, add a 740 for the article title. The second indicator should be "2".
• Search NAF for established headings for the authors.

Examples:
700 12 Delale, Alain.$tLigue du Midi et la commune de 1870 à Marseille.
740 02 Cinéma et la Commune de Paris.

• If the serial is already held by SUL, update the existing bibliographic record for the serial.
• If the serial is not held by SUL, create a bibliographic record for the serial (original cataloging) or import a bibliographic record for the serial (copy cataloging), and add the note and added entry for the article to the bibliographic record for the serial.
