Classical Music Spotlight podcasts from Naxos Music Library

Classical Music Spotlight podcasts are available via Stanford's subscription to Naxos Music Library. In these podcasts, classical radio and recording producer Raymond Bisha explores current releases, occasionally interviewing performers and composers.

Bisha’s current podcast is “Carlo Gesualdo, composer, murderer”, wherein he provides an introductory account of Gesualdo’s successes as a composer, his compositional techniques, and his rather lurid criminal activities. The podcast is interspersed with recorded excerpts of Gesualdo’s music, as well as of his contemporaries Nenna and Luzzaschi. Featured artists in this podcast (from the Naïve recording) are Concerto Italiano, conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini.

Classical Music Spotlight podcasts, averaging 20 minutes in duration, are published each Tuesday and may be found under the Resources tab. The Naxos blog also announces the latest releases. Subscribers may listen to the streaming audio directly at the Naxos site, or can add the podcast link to iTunes or other podcast catchers to facilitate downloading. The podcast feed url is: http://blog.naxos.com/feed/podcast. Paste the url into your iTunes podcast directory by going to “advanced” in the top pull-down menu, and clicking on “subscribe to podcast”.
