Timely News about Parking Permits and Commute Club

1. Apply online today for 2011-12 parking permits or Commute Club memberships
New permits required on Sept. 1; Commute Club must be renewed every September

It is time to apply for your 2011-12 parking permit or enroll in the Commute Club for the new academic year. Online ordering is now available. Please note that over-the-counter, in-person transactions will not be available until Aug. 15.

Current parking permits expire on Aug. 31, and there will be no grace period. Permit holders need to display new parking permits as of Sept. 1, 2011. View 2011-12 permit rates.

Before you purchase a parking permit, consider joining the Commute Club, which pays up to $282 per year in Clean Air Cash or Carpool Credit to eligible commuters who don't drive alone to Stanford’s main campus. If you are a current Commute Club member, be sure to re-enroll for 2011-12 if you want to continue your membership.

2. What you need to know about requesting permits by mail
We recommend ordering online by Aug. 19 to have your permit arrive by Sept. 1

To avoid a trip to the Parking & Transportation Services office and the long lines associated with the new academic year, you are encouraged to order your parking permit online by Friday, Aug. 19, and request "U.S. Mail" delivery.

If you select "U.S. Mail" delivery, please allow 7 to 10 days from the time your application is received. If you select "pick up," you will be notified when your permit is available (usually 5 to 7 days after your application is received).

If you have questions, please send email to Parking & Transportation Services.

3. How do I apply for a parking permit or enroll in the Commute Club for 2011-12?

1. Order or enroll online (recommended)
2. Fax: 650.724.8676
3. Email your scanned application
4. In person (beginning Aug. 15) or mail: 340 Bonair Siding (Mail Code 7255), Stanford, CA 94305-7255

Application forms are available at the following links:

In-person, over-the-counter sales are expected to be available beginning Monday, Aug. 15, at Parking & Transportation Services, located at 340 Bonair Siding. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except university holidays. For more information, call 650.723.9362 or send email to Parking & Transportation Services.

4. The Commute Club offers up to $282 per year to campus commuters who don't drive alone
Membership must be renewed each year. Request a commute plan or assistance

Did you know you could receive up to $282 per year as a Commute Club member by using alternative transportation instead of driving alone and that membership must be renewed every year? If you could bike, carpool, take the bus or train, vanpool, and/or walk for your commute at least three days a week, consider the rewards of joining the Commute Club or renewing your free membership:

Receive up to $282 a year in Clean Air Cash or Carpool Credit, plus other rewards
Purchase daily scratcher permits for days you need to drive and still remain in the Commute Club
Receive up to $96 a year in Zipcar driving credit and free hourly Enterprise car rentals
Vanpools receive $200 per month in subsidies (there are currently open seats!)
Reduce your vehicle costs and carbon footprint

If you would like a transit and/or bicycle commute plan from your front door to Stanford, try our free, do-it-yourself commute plan service or request a custom commute plan, which our knowledgeable staff will create for you.

We are happy to help you explore your sustainable transportation options and eligibility for rewards. For questions and assistance, contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu or visit the Commute Club page.

5. Last chance to enroll in the Commute Club for the current academic year
Retroactive Clean Air Cash can be paid only within the same academic year

Did you forget to enroll in the Commute Club last September, even though you were eligible during 2010-11? If so, you need to know that enrollment for the Commute Club can be processed only within the same academic year. This means you need to apply by Aug. 26 if you forgot to apply and were eligible for the Commute Club for all or part of the current academic year (September 2010 through August 2011).

If you are not currently enrolled and want to request retroactive Clean Air Cash and other rewards for this academic year, you must use a paper application form and submit it by Friday, Aug. 26, by fax (650.724.8676), by scanning and sending it by email, or in person at 340 Bonair Siding.

If you are currently enrolled in the Commute Club, and would like to request retroactive Clean Air Cash for previous months in which you should have been enrolled, please send an email to commuteclub@stanford.edu to confirm your eligibility for past months in this academic year and request that they be added to your membership.

If you are unsure about your current status or have other questions, please send an email to commuteclub@stanford.edu.
