Workshops

The Swain Library offers workshops to help support chemistry and chemical engineering information needs on campus. All sessions are open to current students, faculty, and staff at Stanford. Workshops are held in the training area at the back of the Swain Library and include hands-on practice time. Please sign up for Swain’s workshops

Web of Science — Advanced Searching

Description: The Web of Science is a multidisciplinary database that includes over 9,000 journals. This session will cover search techniques, how to do cited reference searching, refining and analyzing results, viewing citation reports and the H-Index. It will also include setting up alerts and options for managing search results.

Description: Reaxys Xcelerate contains information on organic, inorganic, and organometallic substances, their properties, and their reactions.

SciFinder

SciFinder — Reference Searching

Description: This session includes an overview of the content in SciFinder and search methods for searching by research topic or author. It will also include chemical substance searching using CAS Registry Numbers, chemical names, and molecular formulas.
