Eight new digital collections now available in SearchWorks!
Eight new digital collections are now available in SearchWorks. Several of these collections take advantage of recently enhanced functionality which better integrates material in the Stanford Digital Repository with data contained in Symphony and enables discovery of and access to media files.
Caroline Batchelor Map Collection
This collection of primarily maps with a few prints and books portrays the continent of Africa as well as detailed maps of different regions and countries on the continent. The maps range in date from 1550 to approximately 1800. Individual maps cataloged separately and held at Branner Earth Sciences Library and Map Collections by call number.

Dr. Oscar I. Norwich collection of maps of Africa and its islands, 1486 - ca. 1865
The collection contains over 300 maps of Africa and its islands collected by Oscar I. Norwich, and includes sea charts and maps of Southern Africa; the Cape of Good Hope; North, East, and West Africa; islands, ports, and town plans. The majority of the maps are loose items, but a certain number are from rare, published atlases; a few were published in travel books.

KZSU Project South interviews, 1965
Transcribed interviews with Civil Rights workers in the South recorded by several Stanford students affiliated with the campus radio station KZSU during the summer of 1965. For additional information about this collection, see University Archivist Daniel Hartwig's recent blog posts here and here.

Graduate School of Education Open Archive
The GSE Open Archive is an institutional repository that makes publicly available the working papers, published articles, and other materials produced by the faculty, staff, and students at Stanford University Graduate School of Education. Correspondence, memos, notes, photographs, posters and other papers relating to Paul Ehrlich's publications and public appearances, his work with the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, Jasper Ridge Biological Presrve (California), the Zero Population Growth organization, and the Stanford Biological Sciences Department. Correspondents include Norman Cousins, J. Gordon Edwards, Sol Encel, Erich Fromm, Jane Goodall, Daniel McKinley, Margaret Mead, Lawrence Lader, E. C. Pielou, Eliot Porter, and Jonas Salk. Collection also includes materials relating to Dr. Anne Ehrlich's biological research and videotape of Paul Ehrlich's appearance on the Tonight Show.

The integration of digital collections into SearchWorks means that items from collections containing digital material can be discovered in the course of searching and browsing through the totality of Stanford's library catalog. Prior to this major SearchWorks enhancement, digital collections were only available either through special digital collections web sites, such as http://collections.stanford.edu/ or through PURL (persistent URL) pages for individual objects, such as this 18th century map of California as an Island http://purl.stanford.edu/hm809qj3660.
