New database: Cumhuriyet Digital Archive

I am pleased to announce the addition of the Cumhuriyet Digital Archive database to Stanford Libraries collections. The oldest secular and one of the most influential newspapers in Turkey, Cumhuriyet (“The Republic”) was founded by journalist Yunus Nadi Abalıoğlu at the initiative of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on 7 May 1924 and published continuously since its first edition. Using the Cumhuriyet Digital Archive database, Stanford students, faculty, and staff can explore the entire archive of the newspaper from 1924 to the end of 2020.
