The Stanford Libraries has added article search capabilities to its online catalog and resource discovery environment, SearchWorks. Stanford students, faculty, and patrons world-wide can now search a database of over 300 million journal articles, ebooks, patents, book chapters, newspaper articles, reports, and other high-quality scholarly resources from over 80,000 journals and other sources. SearchWorks Articles+ is now live at https://searchworks.stanford.edu/articles.
The University Archives is pleased to announce a new exhibit opening this week in the South Lobby/East Wing of Green Library, highlighting its vibrant collection of materials documenting queer history at Stanford. An online exhibit sharing these same titles and more can be accessed via exhibits.stanford.edu/queer.
Geo4LibCamp is a hands-on meeting to bring together those building repository and associated services for geospatial data to share best practices, solve common problems, and address technical issues. We met at Stanford University for the second Geo4LibCamp unconference from January 30 until February 3, 2017. Nearly 50 attendees from 30 institutions participated in the main three day event, and about 20 attendees for the two day post-conference working sessions. The institutions were primarily academic research libraries -- Alberta, Arizona State, California State, Chicago, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State, Colorado at Boulder, Connecticut State Library, Cornell, Data Curation Experts, Mapzen, Michigan, Minnesota, Moss Landing Marine Labs, Nebraska at Lincoln, New York U, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Princeton, Purdue, Rice, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, UCLA, Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and Yale.
This is a brief update from the ArcLight design team regarding further progress on design and timing for additional work in the coming months, including calls for community feedback and contributions. ArcLight is intended be a Blacklight-based environment that supports discovery and digital delivery of information in archives. The project team is using a community-oriented, collaborative ArcLight Design Process to engage more institutions earlier in the process. We are currently in the Information Architecture phase.

An exhibit focused on the incomparable Stanford Band is now on display at Arrillaga Alumni Center. One of several exhibits currently displayed on campus in celebration of Stanford's 125 anniversary, and united under the theme of "Stanford Stories from the Archives," the exhibit highlights the history of the Band from its earliest formal performances in the 1890's to the irreverent and beloved campus institution we know today.
The Stanford Historical Photograph Collection (SHPC), which comprises one of the Archives' core pictorial collections documenting the history of the university, is now accessible online via https://exhibits.stanford.edu/shpc.
We are pleased to announce that M.A. Matienzo is joining Stanford Libraries as of September 19, 2016 as our Collaboration & Interoperability Architect. Mark will be joining Stanford from DPLA (the Digital Public Library of America) where they currently serve as the Director of Technology. M.A. has previously worked as an archivist, a digital library software developer, and the technical architect for the ArchivesSpace project, at institutions including DPLA, the Yale University Library, and The New York Public Library.
