QR Codes Pilot Project in Jonsson/SSRC

Have you seen these? These square-shaped matrix-style barcodes with black geometric pattern are called Quick Response codes – aka QR codes – and they’re really useful in today’s smart-phone driven culture for linking to digital information whether it be bibliographic information from a SearchWorks record (yes, QR codes are available for every item in SearchWorks!), a Website, a text message, someone’s contact information etc. QR codes can be scanned by QR code apps downloadable to iphone/android smart phones and ipads/tablets.

Librarian Emeritus Award for Joan Loftus

I am delighted to report that the University has awarded Joan Loftus the status of Librarian Emeritus. Joan served Stanford for 33 years, from 1973 to 2006. Throughout her long and distinguished career, she was responsible for United States government documents. She also held various other key assignments, including Head of Government Documents Public Services, California State and Local Documents Librarian, and British Documents Librarian. She shared her deep knowledge of documents sources and research methods with innumerable Stanford faculty, students and staff.
