Fines and fees
Fines and fees Menu
Fines vary by loan period and lending library. Fines stop accruing when the item is returned or declared lost. You can pay fines and fees in My Account. Paid overdue fines cannot be refunded.
If an item is not returned with the time frame specified below, it is considered lost and you will be billed for the cost of replacement and a non-refundable $5 processing fee. You may be eligible for a refund of the replacement cost if the item returned to the library within one year. Read more about lost items or contesting a fine.
We will send a courtesy overdue notice to your email address listed with the University Registrar or on the Stanford Libraries Card application. Failure to receive a notice does not cancel obligations to pay fines or fees.
