Troubleshooting guide Menu
If you are unable to connect to a e-resource, try the following:
- Check the SearchWorks record to verify that we have a current subscription that covers the publication date.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies and restart your browser or use an incognito/private browser window.
- Try using a different browser.
- Check the system status page for known outages.
- Report a connection problem.
If you have trouble accessing an e-resource from off-campus, try these additional steps:
- Make sure Lean Library Extension is installed (if your browser is supported) or you are using an EZproxy bookmarklet.
- Log into Stanford VPN using full traffic (non-split-tunnel) VPN connection.
- Open an incognito or private browser window.
- Try to connect again using the EZproxy link: add the EZproxy prefix (https://stanford.idm.oclc.org/login?url=) to the beginning of the URL, e.g., https://stanford.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://www.nature.com.
- Report a connection problem.
Alternative ways to access an e-resource (if the URL fails)
For journal articles:
- Make sure you have Lean Library extension installed.
- If there is a DOI URL (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bandl.2020.104812) in the citation, click on it or copy and paste it into your browser.
- Copy and paste the citation into SearchWorks Articles+.
- Copy and paste the citation into Google Scholar.
- Redo your search in a full text database (e.g., Academic Search Premier or ProQuest Research Library).
For a journal title/issue:
- Try BrowZine.
For newspapers/current news topics:
- Search Newspaper Databases.
For e-books:
- Search for the e-book title in SearchWorks.
